Developer Land Grabs

Over the course of 2024-2025 multiple attempts by developers and commercial interests to take and develop conservation land via “land swaps”.  Public lands in Guana WMA and Guana & Twin Rivers State Forests were all at risk.  Members of Floridians Advancing Florida’s Outdoors visited each area at risk and created social media campaigns to inform the public of exactly what was at risk to be lost to development.  Specifically for Guana our members organized protests which included elected officials and news media coverage.  These efforts combined with efforts by concerned Floridians were enough to get each proposal withdrawn.
